Blue Knights down IL Prep: Improve to 2-1

After only leading 12-10 with 11 minutes remaining in the first half the Blue Knights would score on their next nine possessions. The run started layups on back to back possessions by DJ Haynes and JJ Kalakon. The run was capped off by a Cobie Montgomery transition slam and then an Elijah Farr made three-pointer off of a pass from JJ Kalakon to make the score 33-17.

After an Illinois Prep timeout, Olney Central would score on a JJ Kalakon layup followed by a steal on the defensive end that resulted in a CE Talton layup off a pass from Cayman Hayes

The Blue Knights went into the half with a 45-22 lead and would not let up in the second half as they got contributions from the entire team. Freshman Shilo Bowles and Trey Woolsey scored their first career points in the second half. Bowles caught an alley oop pass from JJ Kalakon and flushed it down to earn his. Woolsey scored off of a drive and lay in.

Jordan Tchuente and Elijah Farr both led the rebounding effort for the Blue Knights. Each had 4 offensive rebounds and Olney Central as a team had 17 offensive rebounds.  

The Blue Knights were led in the scoring effort by Elijah Farr (14), DJ Haynes (11), Cayman Hayes (11), and JJ Kalakon (9). Every Blue Knight scored in the game.

The Blue Knights had an efficient night from the floor as they were 37-69 for the game for 53.2% and had a season low 13 turnovers in the game. 

 

Head Coach Casey Wyllie on the game: "We had two really good days of practice on Monday and Tuesday and the guys carried it over into tonight. Our guys really took pride in guarding the basketball and not requiring any help. We played with great energy and everyone got in the game and scored. Tonight was really fun."
