Blue Knights Expand Winning Streak with First Road Victory

Olney Central overcame a sluggish offensive start against Lewis and Clark as they only scored 2 points in the first 4:30 of the game Monday night. 6'1 Sophomore Cayman Hayes buried a three-pointer off a pass from 6'3 Freshman Jordan Graham to make it a 6-5 game and get the Blue Knights going. After two consecutive stops on the defensive end, 6'8 Sophomore Elijah Farr hit a trailer three-pointer off of a pass from 6'5 Sophomore Cobie Montgomery. After a 4-0 run by the Trailblazers the Blue Knights would get a big spark from their bench. 6'5 Sophomore Jordan Tchuente gathered an offensive rebound and was fouled on the put back attempt. He would go to the free throw line and make both. 

After a stop on the defensive end, 6'1 Sophomore Tucker Hayes would hit a pull-up jumper to gain the lead. The Blue Knights would hold the lead for the remainder of the game. A dunk on a transition play from Tchuente and a made three-pointer from Tucker Hayes off of a JJ Kalakon pass would continue the Blue Knights run to make it 17-12 in their favor. Tchuente would score again on the next possession off of a pass from 6'1 Freshman Tahj Patterson. Lewis and Clark then called a timeout to stop the momentum.

After the timeout the Trailblazers would score on a made three-pointer by Brandon Malone. The Blue Knights would respond with another connection from Tahj Patterson to Jordan Tchuente for a dunk. Later in the half, three-pointers from Cayman Hayes, Elijah Farr, CE Talton, and Cobie Montgomery would push the lead to 12 at 36-24. The Blue Knights would go into the half with a 45-28 lead.

The Blue Knights would make a statement early in the second half on their first offensive possession as Cobie Montgomery put down a powerful one handed flush. The second half team scoring would favor Olney Central 36-32 which would result in a 81-62 final score.

Olney Central received a balanced scoring output led by Talton (14), Tchuente (12), Farr (10), Cayman Hayes (10), and Cobie Montgomery and Tucker Hayes (7 apiece). 

As a team, the Blue Knights had an efficient shooting night. They shot 53.2% from the floor overall (28-52), 50% from the three-point line (10-20), and 88.2% from the free-throw line (15-17).

 

Head Coach Casey Wyllie on the game: "It's always good to get a conference road win. Our guys are doing a great job of sharing the ball. We had 19 assists on 28 makes. We assisted on 10 of our first 14 makes for the game. We also shot the ball extremely well."
