Softball to Open Up in Myrtle Beach

The Lady Knights will open up their 2021 season with their annual trip to South Carolina. After being snowed/rained out in Mississippi on February 19-20, the Knights are ready to get started. During their 8-game trip, they will play #3 Louisburg College (NC), who currently has a 6-3 record, four times. They will also play a DH against USC Sumter and Southeastern Community College (NC). All games will be livestreamed at https://nmbpark.com/394/Park-Cameras

OCC will bring back three players taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility brought on by the Covid pandemic in Erika Turpin, Abbi Lee and Hayden Brown. They will be relied on heavily for their experience, as only 11 games were played last year before the season was cancelled, and no freshmen were able to play their senior years of high school.

The sophomore class features many players who contributed as freshmen and one, Allie Dunn, who didn't get a chance to due to a car accident last February. Fully recovered, she will now get her opportunity along with classmates Liberty Dunaway, Taylor Thomas, Rylee Phillips and others in the class who were expected to make contributions before the pandemic hit.

The freshmen class has a lot of potential, and the depth brought to every position has provided great competition in practice. Hopefully this will translate to a high level of competition during the season.
