Olney Central Lands Versatile 6’8 Wing Gabe Johnson

Olney, IL – The Olney Central College men’s basketball program is proud to announce the signing of Gabe Johnson, a 6’8 wing/forward from Richmond, Missouri, whose blend of size, length, and athleticism brings a new dynamic to the Blue Knights.

As a senior at Richmond High School, Johnson averaged a double-double with 17.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and an impressive 3.6 blocks per game, showcasing his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.

His versatility makes him a valuable addition to an already talented roster. With the ability to run the floor, defend multiple positions, protect the rim, and finish above the rim, Johnson adds a new dimension to the team’s style of play.

“Gabe is a really big addition for us,” said head coach Grayson Flittner. “He brings a unique combination of size and athleticism that complements what we already have and helps raise our overall ceiling.”

Johnson fits perfectly into Olney Central’s up-tempo, aggressive system. His length and mobility make him a disruptor defensively, while his offensive skill set gives the Blue Knights a versatile weapon in transition and the half court.

The Blue Knights continue to build momentum heading into the 2025-26 season, and Johnson’s signing is another major step in the program’s rise.
