Lady Knights Host Vincennes Saturday

The OCC Lady Knights will host the Vincennes Lady Trailblazers this Saturday in their first Region 24 game of the season.  The Lady Knights are coming off a tough road loss at Lincoln Land last Sunday afternoon.  The Trailblazers come into the game winning four of their last five games and coming off a loss at Three Rivers this Tuesday.  The Trailblazers are coached by Hall of Fame coach Harry Meeks who has compiled an impressive resume in his nearly 35 years as the head coach.  

The Trailblazers are currently 7 and 3 and are led in scoring by Sophomore Cherrelle Newsom.  Nesom is averaging 13.5 points per game to go along with 3.5 assists per game.  Vincennes native and freshman Macee Lange is their second leading scorer averaging 12.4 points per game.  Patrolling the paint for VU is 6'1 Freshman Elikya Baseyila who nearly averages a double double with 9 ppg and 10.9 rebounds per game.  VU averages just under 78 points per game on the season and pull in 19 offensive rebounds per contest. 

OCC is led in scoring this year by Freshman Gracie Shorter.  Shorter is averaging 17.3 points per game which is currently good enough for 36th in the country. Sophomore Jocelyn Hall is off to a great start for the Knights as well averaging 8.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.  OCC is currently 2 and 5 with their five losses coming to teams who have been, or are currently ranked in the NJCAA Divison 1 or Division 2 national rankings.
